VILLA LE BLANC BY GRAND MELIÀ IS THE FIRST 5-STAR LUXURY HOTEL TO OPEN IN SPAIN WITH A ZERO CARBON FOOTPRINT

Where the importance of environmental protection and sustainable solutions for the future is now an urgent need, Gran Melià understood the assignment by opening a zero carbon footprint hotel.

“A project like this allows us to move forward towards hotel decarbonization,” Meliá’s vice president and CEO Gabriel Escarrer said in a statement.

The zero carbon 5 stars hotel is the perfect blend of natural colors predominantly white and blue reminding the typical architecture of Menorca Island which was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1993.

The Villa Le Blanc Hotel provides 159 rooms, including 14 Premium Rooms and 86 Supreme Rooms.

This luxurious and idyllic natural setting on Santo Tomás Beach on the Migjorn coast has incorporated the latest green tech to reduce its emissions by 87 percent.

To do so, they adopted a circular-economy model in regard to waste management that will see existing materials reused, refurbished, and recycled.

They will explore more alternatives to offset the remaining emissions and ensure its full carbon neutrality status.

They even imagined a system to collect rainwater to irrigate the gardens.

The Villa Le Blanc has nothing to envy of other 5-star hotels, offering all the luxurious features.
