Today, organisers of the Monaco Yacht Show announced that the 2021 edition is set to go ahead. Taking place between 22-25 September, the show will be adapted with additional entrances and areas, an improved registration process and new event partners. A steering committee of industry decision-makers have helped to implement these changes and improved the show's development strategy. The new plan focuses on connecting exhibitors and visitors, encouraging newcomers and better identifying visitors.

Here, we outline the biggest changes attendees and exhibitors can expect this year:


Custom visitor badges
One of the biggest alterations this year will be the new style of registration and processing of visitors. Three different kinds of badges will be distributed to attendees in order to separate superyacht clients from advisors and trade visitors. 
The new system requires attendees to register in advance for their appropriate badge. While trade and industry attendees will have named badges, yacht clients will retain their anonymity. “A better identification of the visitors will help with the improvement of our strategy for the future,” says the event’s managing director, Gaëlle Tallarida.


Private dockside exhibition 
On the first day of the event, the dockside area will be open for yacht client visitors only, making it easier for private visitors to avoid the crowds and book in to see yachts and tenders early on. This means buyers and consultants can meet with shipyards, yacht brokers, designers or tender manufacturers in a more intimate space. “The concept of the dockside area is a good test for us to see what works best for our visitors and clients,” Tallarida tells us.


An exclusive programme for pre-selected VIPs
The Sapphire Experience identifies VIPs who are new to the industry to offer them an exclusive programme. Those selected for the programme first complete a questionnaire from the MYS organisers. “In 2019, we accepted just 17% of people who applied to the Sapphire programme. We want to make sure they are not already connected to the industry,” explains Tallarida.


A pandemic-proof show 
Organisers will ensure that those exhibitors who cannot attend due to unavoidable travel restrictions will be fully refunded. Plus, attendees can expect to see strict and safe measures in place such as social distancing, track and trace, PPE and on-site screening.


New VIP entrances 
Two new entrances and meeting areas will be implemented into the set-up. With one located near the upper deck lounge (an exhibition space for the show’s luxury partners), and another located close to the Yacht Club de Monaco, these two spots will offer visitors a relaxation lounge with concierge, and be a space to step away from the crowds.


Developing partners
From private clubs and luxury hotels to big names in jewellery and couture, the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show intends to focus on developing new and rewarding partnerships to help get the right people in front of the industry come September. “When a guest is invited by one broker they feel as if they should follow them, but when they come unattached they are freer to explore the entire show,” says Tallarida.


New design and innovation hub 
Visitors to 2021’s show will have access to a new design and innovation hub exhibited within the event. Here, guests will find activities, talks and demonstrations focussing on anything from adventure and exploration to design and sustainability, and will act as a way to connect would-be buyers with all the possibilities the yachting lifestyle has to offer.
